In 2017, I visited some friends in the UK for a few months, spending part of the time living with them in the town of Hastings.

During this trip, I spontaneously splurged on a set of watercolours, India ink, and a dip-nib pen that were on sale at a local art shop.

I spent a lot of time making art during that trip, experimenting with these new mediums and capturing the spirit of the seaside town.

I think of my time there often and with nostalgia since it feels like the beginning of what is now recognizably the style of Studio Barn Owl.
