I lived in Cheongju, South Korea for two years when I was teaching English. My apartment was at the base of a mountain and if I hiked up, I got a great view of the city (one of my photos below).

I’d been thinking about my time there when I made this sketchbook spread. I wanted to try a more graphic architectural approach, laying down the watercolour first and using red ink to make the city. I like how there are a few buildings that break the barrier of the yellow background.
